The photographer of all the photos on this site is Scott M. Rhodes. Scott was born on Long Island, New York, in 1974 and has lived there ever since. From a very young age he would join his Father, a Great South Baymen, on his work boat during summer vacations. It was here that Scott learned to appreciate the beauty of the waters and sites that surround Long Island.
It wasn't until his late 20's that Scott decided to start photographing these sites. Looking for an outlet for his creative nature, he picked up a simple Sony 3.2 megapixel digital camera. He would go nowhere without the camera in his pocket, always looking for that great shot using his unique eye and ability to spot nature's beauty. From there Scott moved to a 35mm Minolta SLR. However, he quickly became frustrated with the limitations and lack of control in making his own prints using a film camera. He later purchased a Canon Digital SLR and began making his own prints as purely a hobby. He loved the freedom of experimenting with the wide variety of media and other options that the digital darkroom brought him. He quickly moved from a simple deskjet printer to a dye pigment-based Epson Photo R800, giving him professional, archival-qualty prints. Scott would display his photos at his home and office. After many positive comments about his work, he began framing and matting his photography himself for friends, family and co-workers as gifts. This proved to become an expensive "hobby".
To help offset some of the costs of Scott's prints he decided to start his own website. He designed and created it himself to allow for a place people could view and purchase his work. From a beginning of one simple page on an AOL Members Homepage grew both this website and the start of Scotts' desire to get his work out to a much larger audience.
Scott now travels the Island selling many of his works at local art shows. Seeing a demand for more variety in his work he started making prints from 4 X 6 to now as large as 13 X 19. He does all of his printing, framing and matting himself and signs every piece. His work has also been featured on the cover of Long Island Boating World Magazine, and in art galleries on Long Island and in Manhatten. All of his work is done on professional grade papers and using inks that are designed to last a lifetime, and is sold at fairs, galleries, and through this site, to places all over the country.
Scott now offers his photography for hire as well. He specializes in family photos, engagment photos, and photos of his customer's classic cars, motorcycles, boats, and other various subjects. His unique eye, and attention to detail is helping to make Scott's work to become in demand.
